Sweating and Acne
Another thing that happens during puberty is that people start to grow hair. You may have noticed that adults have hair on their bodies in places that children do not. Where are some of the place you've noticed hair growing? Maybe arms? Legs? Back? Shoulders? Sometimes you even notice hair coming out of noses and ears. I also know that people start growing hair in their armpits and also, around their genitals. Genitals? What does that mean? Well, that means people's private parts. You know, guys have a penis and girls have a vulva. I bet you thought I was going to say vagina. Actually the name for the outside part of a girl is called a vulva. Boys have a penis and a scrotum and girls have a vulva. And the hair that grows around these areas is called pubic hair. Oh! I forgot to mention sometimes people grow hair on their faces, too. That's true for both men and women. We usually notice it more often for boys though. Some people grow lots of hair and some people grow hardly any hair at all. I mean, I know someone who if she didn't shave every day, she'd have almost a full beard. That's normal for her. I know another person who has never shaved in his whole life and he does not have any facial hair at all. So because people grow hair in different places around their bodies, sometimes people decide they want to change where that hair grows. Each of us, for most of our lives, decide we want to get haircuts. Sometimes we want to control where the hair comes out of on our bodies. Some people use razors to do that. Maybe you've heard of other ways too. I've heard of waxing and plucking also. Some of these things can be dangerous, like razors, so its good to talk to atrusted adult to figure out how to use these things so you don't get hurt. The same thing with hot wax. So, hair - another thing that happens during puberty.
